A two-door sports coupe manufactured by the Japanese automobile maker in the years between 1978 and 2001, the Prelude has spanned several generations with considerable alterations.
Honda started its first generation Preludes in 1978, which featured a unique glass moon-roof along with a 1.6 litre SOHC CVCC 14 1751cc engine along with 5-speed manual transmission.
Five years down the line, and Honda brought forth its next generation vehicle, which had a 2 litre DOHC 16 valve PGM-FI engine, along with other features like pop up headlights and painted steel wheels with trim rings and full wheel covers, and a modified bonnet.
The third generation Honda Prelude (1987) although similar to the second generation vehicles, altered its looks to a certain extent and also increased the power of its engines. Its low hood line enabled better visibility and it also brought about much in terms of fuel efficiency and stability. It also earned a name in the 'Wheels' magazine as the car of the year, 1987.
The next generation of the Prelude (1992) made a few alterations to the engine by incorporating the VTEC model as well as an electronic four wheel steering system, that led to enhanced performance levels. Apart from changes to the front and rear exteriors, the glass sunroof of the Prelude was altered to a sleeker steel sliding roof. Clear speedometer and tachometer needles were also another feature of this popular vehicle along with leather upholstery for the comfortable seats.
